Help with VideoAudioFX

Answers to common questions about importing, shaping, and exporting your video's audio — and a direct line to the person who builds it.

VideoAudioFX import screen

How it works

One effect chain, applied live, exported clean.

VideoAudioFX runs your video's audio through EQ, reverb, compression, limiting, and fades — and passes the video itself through untouched.

Graphic EQ and reverb controls

A full effect chain, not a single filter

A 5-band graphic EQ with a live frequency-response graph, an algorithmic hall reverb, compression and limiting with real-time gain-reduction metering, and adjustable fades — applied in that fixed order, every time.

Live preview synced to a waveform

Hear it before you commit to it

Every change previews instantly against your actual video, synced to a high-resolution waveform you can scrub to any moment. Nothing is written to your file until you export.

Saved presets list

Save a sound, reuse it next time

Name and save your effect settings as a preset, reload it on your next video, or update it in place once you've dialed it in further — like "Home piano with DPA mics."

Compression, limiting, and master meters

Video in, video out — unchanged

Export re-encodes only the audio track. The video is passed through bit-for-bit, so there's no re-compression, no quality loss, and no waiting on video processing you didn't ask for.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Import & Photos access

Why does VideoAudioFX ask for full access to my Photo Library?
Full access lets the app pull your video's original file directly, which is significantly faster than the standard picker — especially for long or HDR videos, which the limited path has to re-export first. If you choose Limited Access or decline, importing still works; it just goes through that slower path.
My import is stuck on "Preparing video…" — is something wrong?
Not necessarily. The first stretch of an import can sit at a small percentage while Photos prepares the file behind the scenes — normal for cropped or edited videos, which have to be re-rendered before being handed over. You can cancel at any time with Cancel Import.
I got a "not enough storage" message.
VideoAudioFX checks available disk space before importing or exporting, since processing needs room to work alongside your original file. Free up some space on your device and try again.

Effects & live preview

Does adjusting effects change my original video file?
No — nothing is written until you tap Export. Every effect previews live against your video without touching the source file.
Why does the waveform take a moment to fully appear on long videos?
The waveform is generated progressively as your video's audio is decoded, so it fills in live rather than all at once — on a longer video, that fill-in is simply more visible.

Export & purchase

What does the one-time purchase unlock?
Every effect is free to use and preview. The one-time purchase unlocks exporting — as many videos as you like, forever, with no subscription.
I reinstalled the app or got a new device — do I have to pay again?
No. Open the export screen and tap Restore Purchases — your unlock is tied to your Apple ID, not the device.

Troubleshooting

Audio doesn't play after I plug in or remove headphones.
This should recover automatically — VideoAudioFX listens for audio route changes and restarts the audio engine on its own. If you ever do hit a case where sound doesn't return, closing and reopening the video resets it.
I got a "Couldn't load video" error.
This usually means the file's audio track couldn't be read. Try re-exporting the source video from wherever it came from, or import it again with Choose File instead of Photos.
